How Colleges Can Help

Believe it or not, the way a college is designed has a large impact on the overall fitness of college students.

Lu et al., (2022) mentioned how improved physical fitness of a college student was related to many factors such as: a distance of “0.5-1.7 km” between student dormitories and academic building due to the gathering of location based data with ArcGIS and SPSS (statistics in social science), a positive correlation with the increased amount of intersections and short connections of campus streets, and arranging the site selection of buildings. 

Sometimes you need to define what being "more convenient" is for college students. Does it refer to letting students eat fast foods everyday, without having available access to their fitness facilities...or does it refer to students having to go walk the extra distance to stay in shape.

 

However, too far of a distance works against the students by making it too stressful to commute by walking, so the right amount should be found.
